Hi all, this is my first post on the forums, just wanted to pop in and say I would be interested in attending the MAHHA event in Oct, assuming newcomers are welcome :-)
I wandered my way over here from Just Jeff's website while doing some hammock camping research. I am recently rediscovering my love for hiking/backpacking, and starting to investigate gear. The last time I did this was about 13 years ago with old-school metal frame packs and huge tents and I'm really looking forward to trying it again, going light and comfortable. Hammock camping interests me but I'd love to see it in action and check out various setups before investing a bunch of money in a hammock, tarp, etc. This seems like a great opportunity to learn from experienced folks and have some fun while I'm at it.
I'd welcome any advice on what to bring for the hang. I'm also happy to bring something to share for the group as my contribution, since I don't have any cool gear to show off! Let me know what would be appreciated most - food? beverages? other?

Looking fwd to meeting you. First timers are stongly encourage so us old fuddy duddies can talk on end about our rigs. And believe me we will. Mahha is on of the best hangs imo especially for a someone new. There are others coming from NJ and maybe you can carpool.
Why do they have to put Oct so far away?

I have burned all my vacation this year. I'd love to go to either of them. Why do they have to put retirement so far away?
This year I gonna try to have a rig as cool as WV's. Well almost as coolanyhow.......except for his stand, I don't have anything that cool.

Newcomers are always welcome. Bring whatever food/drink you like and want to share.
Don't anyone worry about not having "cool gear". The Hang out is great to check what's out there before you buy it or make it. My gear is always evolving.
Its the comaraderie thats most important.
Let's see if we can get us Jerseyans to outnumber the others.
