    Smile Hello from Star Idaho

I'm a Noob to hanging and this forum, but I'm the type that goes all out of goes home. I don't have the full set-up yet, but it's only a matter of time.

When searching for a new pack, I read review about the EMO Double-Nest and decided to give it a try. I've yet to hang in the woods, but plan on trips into the Sawtooths and Whiteclouds this year. Surely my trail partners will be fighting over my sweet setup.

I've watched all the vids from Shug and Grizz and they're really educational, especially concerning the different methods of suspensions. I appreciate all the help they've both given in towards my hanging experience.

I'm split between the Whoopie, the UCR and a single line setup. The Youtube vids Grizz posted seems to indicate he liked the single line suspension system using desending rings with the structural ridgeline and marlin spike hitch. Why use 10ft of Whoopie string when you can use 5ft of single line? Isn't bulk a factor? Any feedback would be welcome.

I see user: pgibson of Arrowhead Equipment is also from SW Idaho. What part? What are your favorite hiking areas?

Anyhow, I've been lingering for several weeks now and felt it was time to step up and show myself.

    Welcome Festus-99,

I went to highschool in Emmett. I enjoyed backpacking in the whiteclouds and Sawtooth ranges back in the mid to late 70's. Sadly, that was before I discovered hammock camping. But there is no doubt that it is some of the most beautiful and hammock friendly wilderness around.

You will learn a lot of great info for enjoying the back country from reading this forum. Enjoy!

    dblhmmck,

I see your now in northern Cali. Ever make it back to the Treasure Valley? I grew up in west Boise and graduated from Borah before joining the Coast Guard back in 82'. Came back cause as Dorothy said..."There's no place like home". I spent a couple weeks out at the Circle-G ranch in Emmett taking a horse clinic. One of my ultimate goals is to hunt off my horse with my hammock etc.. Only time will tell. Right now I'm flying solo with this hammock thing, but I'm sure to eventually convince all my friends.

Good to know another Idaho Boy is on the forum. Take care...

Woo Buddy Hey Festus-99 Welcome to the forum. I am just down in Mt Home. Grew up in Boise. Cough but I was a brave, cough Sorry. And DoubleHammock I had no idea you were from up here

Hiking, lets see if there is a trail I am probably willing to go down it. But Sawtooths are often top of the list. As is anything out of McCall, cause there is nothing better than following up a hike with a stop at My Fathers Place for a burger then wondering across the street to McCall Brewing for a pint

Planning on some group hangouts this year, one in McCall area and one in the Sawtooths. And maybe a spring shake down in the next few weeks above Fairfield if your interested.

    Welcome again

Greeting from North Alabama. I bet the mountains in Idaho are nice this this time of year. It's turning into a humid tropical jungle down here!
