    Zipper Failure?????

Had a really funny comment on one of my youtube videos and a funny scenerio....

The scenerio concluded if the zipper failed in the blackbird....

I've had mine for about 1 year and no signs of zipper failure. How long have you had your black bird and has the zipper failed it's function or had signs of failure beginning?

I want to do my research before I comment back to this person.

    Thanks,

    Raul

I'm about a year on mine too, not even any signs of wear. I cant remember EVER reading about any zipper failures on the BB? I remember one post about some guy that bonzaied into his and ripped out the back seam, but that wasn't anybody's fault but his own.

I got one of the very early ones back in Aug/Sept of 2008. That one is still my primary BB and it gets used...ummmm....often. Haven't had a zipper failure yet beyond snagging the fabric of my top or bottom quilts from time to time. But, that's user error in my book so can't blame the zippers.

Even if it did fail, it wouldn't be that bad.
Ask me, or several other people here, how much fun it is to get out of a Hennessy when you awake to discover you've flipped upside down at some point in the night. I'll take a busted zipper any day.

I got mine in Oct 2008, and the zipper seems perfectly fine.

and I HAVE woken up laying on the bug netting a time or two, when I was using the hammock without the tieouts and doing a lot of acrobatics inside my sleeping bag

The guy who fell through the back of his Blackbird prompted a slight re-design and reinforcement of the shelf area. Brandon offered to fix any of the ones that had been sold up until the design change, but I didn't see any need to waste the time to send mine back in. No problems so far, and I will be avoiding swan diving into my blackbird's shelf

So far people have had the BB for about 2-2 1/2 years with good use with no zipper issues at all. With one random act of swan diving into the hammock which turned out to be a bad mistake
