    Summer TQ

Hi Folks; i'm thinking of making a summer quilt, sew through design. about 8 oz of 800 fill and i'm wondering about the width of the baffles /compartments. If i'm making it about 80" long, have the baffles running width wise like a JRB HR, 8 compartments 10" wide does this seem reasonable. Thanks in advance

80" is pretty long if you're not real tall.

I make my baffles 5" wide (tall? long? whatever.) I wouldn't do 10" wide baffles on sew threw especially. Alot of bag makers prefer to use box quilting for sew threw construction. Not that I'm saying you should do that, I'd just recommend 16 5" baffles instead.

The more maffles you put in the more stable your down will be. If you were making areally stuffed thick quilt it wouldn't matter very much. IMO you should go with 5" baffles so the down is as stable as possible. Only extra weight is the thread.
