    Freaky item hanging in tree

This isn't technically a trip report, but just a small part of a trip. While hiking on the Pinhoti Trail in GA just before dark last night, HF member brownc and I walked up on the item in the picture hanging from a tree. I have no clue why it's there. Talk about freaky!

Being in North Georgia, all I could think is...banjo music. Hike faster, brownc!

    HIKE FASTER...indeed...

That is a stomp stopper if this was in a deserted part of the woods.
    It looks pretty big too

Georgia have Natives living in the swamp?

You have to do something with all those coconuts in the Georgia outback!

If my wife brought that home, I'd go hang it in a tree somewhere too.

Probably the opposite happened. Guy brings home new thingy, wife hates it but promises to hang it somewhere. She just never specified the 'where'.

I love seeing random unexplained things like this and trying to imagine the circumstances that lead to their being there. One of my favorties in a trail I frequent around here is a old rusted red children's tricycle that was shoved into a tree where two trunks diverged. As the years have gone by the two trunks grew bigger the wood has gown around parts of it. Encasing the tryke in the wood.

It looks so lonely out there.
