I remember her talking about it a year, or more, ago. Thrilled she's getting her shot at it. Such a good life while one is out there.

Didn't she just lose her mate?

    Have a good trip, lady.

Yes she did. In her Trail Journal, she refers to herself as a "Recent widow", & I believe she talked about it here as well.

    Thumbs up

I first met Red Hat when I was "thru-hiking" the GSMNP back in the spring of '05. Then she come to our little WhiteBlaze gathering in Nashville back in February this year on her way from Texas to the East for her hike this year. Spent the night at our home, in fact. A strong hiker and really nice lady!

Saw her at SoRuck and the April Fool Bash, she was doing very well and making good time on the trail. We talked a good bit at breakfast about how her hammock was working for her. Her only complaint was inadequate lateral coverage from the tarp she was using. I gave her my extra Speer Winter Tarp to use so she'd be a bit drier.

Unfortunately, she did. She spoke of it a bit at the Bash.
