    WITHDRAWN - Straight Feed Binder

Since I got a right angle binder, I'm selling my straight feed binder. You screw the mounting plate to the table of the sewing head, and adjust to suit.

$50 plus actual shipping if shipping is more than $10.

Had to withdraw this item. See the post below...

Note... it used to be that sewing machines had a tapped hole on the plate to receive these kinds of attachments but I have not seen them on home machines in a long time. It might be possible to "make it work" but they are made for commercial machines more so than current home machines.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Would you please describe what exactly a right angle binder is designed to do and/or what makes it different from how we normally do things? I really don't know anything about them.

    Thanks.

The one pictured for sale is not a right angle binder. It is a straight feed binder. In the grosgrain thread, I posted a picture of my right angle binder.

The right angle binder feeds the grosgrain in at right angles to the fabric feed into the needle, that's all.

The straight feed binder is set up to feed the binding material in straight, along with the fabric being sewn.

BTW, pictured below are the mounting holes that Rev was talking about... the pair of holes to the right of the needle are the mounting holes. The machine shown is my '80's Nechhi, a domestic machine, not an industrial machine. If no one buys this binder, I will keep it for my Nechhi.

...added a second picture showing the binder mounted.

A binding attachment like this is very useful in the application of any number of binding materials. The way the binder is rigged it folds the material in half and feeds it, along with the fabric being bound in the feed dogs as a single unit so to speak. As the needle does its thing it catches the top layer of the binding, the fabric and the bottom layer in one operation. The operator still needs to guide and align the fabric for best results. If you make a lot items such as tarps where the binding material has to go on just so.. they can be very helpful. For the average DIYer it would depend on the amount of use it was going to get as to whether or not the purchase would be worth it. That said... at the proffered price it seems like a very good deal for the anal retentive DIY tarp maker out there, providing it will be usable on their machine.

    Withdrawn

My Consew power switch broke this morning, so I had to put the straight feed binder into use. My Necchi is trying to tell me something...
