Is there a Walmart near you? Silly question, I know.

Repel makes a Permethrin product that Walmart sells in the camping section. Most folks report noticing no difference in the effectiveness and I would tend to agree. Only thing I've noticed is that the treatments don't seem to last as long as the Sawyer spray treatments. If it were me, I'd go get a couple of cans of that for the current trip, then order the soak method from Sawyer online and have it for the next adventure.
    Trust nobody!

Not a bad idea to be prepared, but I've spent quite a few days & nights hammock camping in the Mt Rogers area (often starting at Massi Gap), & I've not spent a night under a bug net yet.
Now, admittedly, there have been a few times when I wouldn't have minded having one, but more often than not up there, it was because of the pesky gnats & flies that sometimes like to "bug" you. That was mostly approaching dusk. After dark, they usually disappear up there.

I usually have insect repellent w/ me but most often I end up just dealing w/ the pests for a while rather than putting the bug stuff on me when it's only going to be needed for such a sort while.
    But, to each his own
I too will something make and joy in it's making

    The short answer: NO!!!!!!!

The long answer: Even if you have Verizon (the local preference I think) it is Spotty at best. I had a 1 bar signal for about 10 seconds early this year with ATT, enough signal & long enough to get a text & send a reply of "Yes".
When you have a backpack on, no matter where you are, you’re home.
PAIN is INEVITABLE. MISERY is OPTIONAL.
