    mount rogers

I am headed there this weekend. Are the mosiqutoes, ticks, or red bugs out there. In my packing stages now and just want to know how to prepare. also I will most probally bring the WBBB. But a couple of friends have hammocks without netting. Thanks. I am trying to cut weight but if those pest are out I want to be prepared.

Virginia, in the summer? I'd be prepared for bugs. Treat your clothing and gear with Permethrin and you might be able to get away without a net, but I'd still carry a head-net with me for those just-in-case moments.

A net would be a nice thing to have for sleeping. While hiking I tend to ignore the bugs, but YMMV. Bugs are pretty thick right now.
Not the guy to ask for Directions.

I have not needed a net yet after dark. So far 1 tick seen, gnats in the daytime, occasional mosquito but no bites on me yet, no bugs yet at night, but daddy long legs get into your hammock (reference...2 weeks ago) I brought my net and didn't use it.
