    DIY KAQ Problems

So I've looked over the instructions for the DIY KAQ many times but I'm having a difficult time understanding them. First of all I want to make it a little simpler so instead of cutting out darts I want to make it a rectangle quilt that can be either a TQ or a UQ. Why do I need different size shock cords? And what's the difference between shock cords and draw cords? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Can't we all just 'Hang' along?

    shockcord is elastic.
drawcords is non-elastic, similar to your shoelace.
You do not need two different sizes, but the reason is heavier shockcord is needed to hold up the weight of the quilt. The smaller shockcord is for the head and foot ends, to help conform the quilt to your body, decreasing air gaps.
You could use heavier shockcord at the ends but it is overkill. Hence the two sizes.

Awesome, that helps a lot, thanks gargoyle. What is a good length for each?

    draw string vs shock cord

If you look at AHE, the difference between the new river and the kaq has to do with rectangular vs shaped, and draw strings on the ends, vs shock cord on all four sides. The rectangular, draw cords on the ends, with shock cord going from the grosgrain pulls to the hammock suspension is the easiest to build, and works fine. I have used, and have seen people use this to the mid 40s, and lower with no problem.
