Congrats on the sweet hammock. There are some pictures and a thread someplace I am sure about hanging from two vehicles, got some Humvee's kicking around?

Well, I don't think I need to go *that* far....
I'm more or less 'permanent party' and live in a conex. That's the good part.
The bad part is, it's already furnished and it's small - maybe 10 x 14. Not sure if there's room to set up a stand or not, but I guess I'll see once it gets here!
Mike
mike, check the "Rabbit Ears" stand thread. Or put hooks in the walls?
Ambulo tua ambulo.
I've looked at that and the 2x4 PHS thread - I might be able to cobble together a PHS, just don't know if I've got room to set it up. There's a desk, bed, 2 small wall lockers and a TV stand that have to stay with the conex, so room is *definitely* at a premium.
I can't put anything into the walls, since it is 'base housing', unfortunately.
Mike
gotcha..had to google conex. Wedge 2x4 or 4x4's on opposite walls, wedge a third 2x4 across the tops as a spreader? possible? Won't take up any floor space, or damage walls.
Or really big magnets.
ps, thanks for serving!
Ambulo tua ambulo.
I didn't think of that - it might be do-able, I'll have to look and see once the hammock comes and I actually know what span I'm looking at (and what I can scrounge, wood-wise). I'm thinking it'll have to be catty-corner across the long axis of the conex, if I can rearrange furniture to allow.
I think I've got some pics of the interior on the other computer - I'll have to try to post them so y'all can tell me what will/won't work.

Back at the conex now - it's going to have to be something free-standing. The attachments for the walls are thin aluminum flashing, so hooks are a no-go.
The lights and conduit for their wiring stretches across the ceiling, and the 'front' wall has no place to put a vertical post. I thought it might have been possible to offset a post on the front wall, but it's just not feasible since there's no way to cross-brace between the verticals.
Oh well, at least now I know - one of my co-workers likes to tinker, so I'll get him thinking on what stuff he has stashed away that might work for building a stand. I've gotta figure out where I can put it once it's built.
I think he has the easy part!!
Mike
Congats on the purchase... You made a very wise decision.
Thanks, Opie -
The main part of the room is 10 x 15, so I think that I may be able to rearrange things (bed, desk, wall lockers) and shoehorn a stand in there.
