Do you use a ground cloth?

How many use some sort of ground cloth under your hammock? What do you use and what size is it? Also do you anchor it in any way? I have been using a 3x3 piece of tyvek. I've been wondering if it is to large. I haven't weighed it. But it has almost no weight. It is placed so that when I enter and exit the hammock. I am able to duff or don my shoes with out getting my feet dirty. It is also a handy place to lay various gear. I was wondering if there are any better options out there.

I've gone back and forth on this. Sometimes I use my sit pad/ foot insulation in this way - at least until I get up in the middle of the night. I think its a good idea, and will be looking to see what others do.

    Yes sirree,
I think a small section of tyvek under the hammock makes very good sense for all of the reasons you have stated, and 3x3 is a perfect size (just put a fold in it if you want it smaller). I keep mine in a tyvek package envelope that I received in the mail.

It is a good idea, but I just take my shoes off before getting in the hammock. The pack gets strapped to a tree so it doesn't need any protection.

No. I hang my shoes from the ridgeline. Put them on and off while getting in or out. Everything weighs something.

Yep, I have a 3' x 4' section of an old tent floor. Works great for throwing gear out and keeping everything clean and dry.

I use my poncho for a ground cloth. I tend to put everything on it and then wrap everything up before going to bed. I do this mostly because once I woke up to a heavy rain and there was three or four inches of water underneath my hammock. Fortunately, because I had wrapped everything inside the poncho, nothing got wet except the poncho.
