A day at the beach

Took the family to the lake, laid in the sun and sand for a while. Got a little too much sun, and grabbed the hammock and headed up into the dunes. Found a great spot on top of a bluff.

My destination awaits, it's all uphill from here.

The view from up top, the water is blue, the breeze is blowing....ahh! In the third pic,a few kayakers were doing a training class. Learning to roll their kayaks, some apparently for the first time.

Every once in a while the new guys would get the roll, and a big round of applause would echo thru the lake.

The view from the hammock was excellent. As the sun crept around, I started to get more sun than my lilly white body needed. So I moved back from the bluff 20 yards. Found a cool dead tree that was buried in the sand. Strung up the hammock again and cooked up some Ramen on my new stove. An excellent day! Everybody got sunburnt.

Man .... looks nice. A hammock in the shade and a wee bit of sand and sunburn.
A tomato sandwich is all that is needed ........

Looks nice Gargoyle. I cant believe the water is warm enough to get in yet. We so need to get to the beach, soon.

Tom, thats fresh water. No salt water around MI. We still call our shoreline "beach" though. It took me a while to be able to call it a beach, coming from the east coast. Beach to me always meant the ocean.

South of Mac Woods, Duck Lake State Park. I grew up playing in the waters there. Brought my kids there, hopefully the grand kids.
One of my top ten favorite spots. Duck Lake has a small natural channel that drains into Lake Michigan.

Opie, Lake Mi. was a little refreshing

, the Duck Lake water was nice. Two lakes for the price of one.

It looks promising that the State will add campsites to the area. Presently its just a parking lot, boat launch and some picnic grounds, and a long road that the state paved right thru the middle. Lots of woods. 728 acres.
