not so much 'in the way' as available to reduce the breezes that get into the hammock. also reputed to add a slight amount of warmth; (possibly for the same reason) and will keep any overcover from drifting onto your face.
I started with Risk's z-hammock; (with flip over bug net) but was always more into DIY than cutting edge tech...

I'll read up on that to see what it is. I assume the mod is to get rid of the bottom entry and make a side entry? I think I have my evening set in researching suggestions.

Two suggestions in the span of minutes means it MUST be worth looking into.

I think I have settled on not making my first hammock. I'll get a nice one then pass that on to the wife and make one for myself. Maybe one with a full wet bar?

Anyways I was wanting to make sure I got one large enough for my fat a$$ and double-layered to handle a pad. A suggestion that put me in the right price range was Warbonnets Traveler double layer with the adjustable webbing suspension. Now I'm looking to see if I can get a non-Warbonnet bug net or if I should just buy the one that he has on his site.

I pulled the trigger on the Warbonnet Traveler Double Layer 1.7oz (olive green). Payment sent. Now I'm too excited. Can't stand it.

Sure you will. Wait to you lay in it. I'm seeing a Traveler for her and a BB for him.

You wont be dissapointed... I mean... Well.... You may, but not likely.

This is still (although my Grizz Bridge is starting to win out) my favorite hammock. And Ive tried a few.
