An easy fix for HH Ridgeline

This idea is based off of headchange4u's tarp tensioners. For hammocks like the Hennesy the ridge line is hard to get to, so you always have to have the perfect hang for the ridge line to be taught. What you do is take a small piece of rope and make 2 prusict knots. To tighten the ridge line you hold the prusict and pull the ridge line through. The rope takes up the slack of the ridge line.

I have never had a problem getting the ridgeline taut even without the "perfect hang". But this is an interesting solution if you do have that problem.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

That does work pretty good ... it's how I set the length on my Jerry5 DIY hammock but I was pretty close already with the fixed bug net length. Another method to take up some slack is to use one or two of those NiteEze Dog bones ... that works really well ... limited amount that can be wrapped so you can use more than one to shorten it as you need. Played with that this weekend and it worked great too!

I haven't tried the dog bones. Do you prefer those over the rope and prusicts?

are you talking about making the ridge-line taught so that the tarp is taught? just tie some para cord between the two o rings of the tarp with a prussik know to adjust for tension, then the tarp is off the hammock and will provide you with a tight tarp and better ventilation anyway.... its almost like hanging the tarp separately.

i demonstrate it in this video here:

Can't say prefer ... just a neat little device that weighs nothing and is easy to rig ... I do like them.

I am talking about making the ridgeline taught to keep the bug net up off your face during the night, maximizing space in the hammock.

I can't say I've ever had that problem with a HH ... it's always well above me.

o..... mine is just held right when the hammock is rigged up....

you could always get a bit of paracord and put a prusik knot on the ridge-line inside the hammock as well.... would only take you about ten seconds, just stick a prussik knot on the ridge line and tie it in a reef knot loop (so you want a small bit of cord, nothing too long) then undo the knot at the end of the ridge-line and tie it onto your new loop, can then slide it up and down and have it as tight or as lose as you want it....

basically the same way as i did the tarp ridge-line but using the ridge-line you already have....

    does that make sense?

If you really get good at using the dog bone, you can use 1.
