Insultex is the latest miracle insulation. From the Insultex website:
Essentially it is a material using very little loft to obtain great warmth properties. It is 'fussy' though. Do a search on Insultex - there was a long thread on this a while ago.TECHNICAL DATA:
1 square yard of Insultex is 0.021 inches thick (˝ millimeter), and weighs .42 ounces
8.8 ounces of Insultex can float approximately 300 pounds of body weight
Barrier against cold, down to minus 13 degrees F.
Melting point is 194 degrees F.

I believe Insultex is a thin layer of polyethylene quilted with a polypropylene non-woven scrim on both sides.
