Hike solo - a chain is only as strong as the weakest link - enough said.

Simplify your kit. Fewer items can be packed faster than more items.

Follow a routine. As an example I put my stake bag in my pocket before I pitch my fly and never hunt for stakes or guylines.

Pack the same way every time. You then do not need to think about where things go.

I switched from a bear bag kit to an Ursack this year. Hanging and retrieving the bear bag was the single most time consuming camp chore.

Do not eat and camp at the same site. This is counterintuitive. It seems like it is more efficient to multi-task and cook and eat while you are packing/pitching. Try it - I think the results will surprise you.
It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.

You know, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. All except the hobbling that is . If that's what we have in common, God bless you brother!

That was the one thing I was determined to figure out after my big hike. I needed a lightweight pack that has multiple points of entry for ease of use.

Even though I was a lot faster then than now, I think you're right. The pavement got so hot, I felt like a desert lizard trying to keep moving so that my feet did not burn. My shoes did not do as well as my feet, they started to delaminate.
