    Whoopie Sling Splice

Is everyone using a non core line when making these whoopie slings? I have tried with the core and just can't get it. I took the core out and had no problem. I use 1/8 amsteel and a guitar string.

Thanks to the quick reply. How much does that weaken the line by pulling out he core?

Which Amsteel are you using? IIRC, only Amsteel II has a core.

You should be looking for Amsteel or Amsteel Blue.

Cords with a core derive most of their strength from the core, so pulling it out will weaken it quite a bit. Enough to make a difference for hammock hanging, I dont know.

Hollow-core, braided. Not sure the weight rating when you remove the core? Might be a safety issue??
I'd suggest trying the right stuff.

West Marine had it marked wrong.

Not to worry... it happens. At least you asked before you tried to hang from it!!!

Westmarine in Augusta only gets Amsteel Blue via special order, atleast, that's what I was told.

I'd take it back, butchered or not and ask for a refund or replacement.

I ordered 50' of 7/64 Friday .27 cent per foot, be here Tuesday. I guess I can always use the 1/8 With the core for my Ridge line?
