Nice! I almost bought an Eno last month when they were on sale at REI. Can never have too many hammocks! But I spent the money some home repair instead. Oh well, maybe they'll have another sale soon.

    WAR EAGLE!!

We need to put together a Bama hang as there seems to be quite a few of us.

I've got a few ideas in mind. .......

There have been a lot of Alabama hangs. Check the Trip reports history for several in the Sipsey, Pinhoti, and a couple further south.

I don't doubt that, I've just never caught wind of one, but I just got on this site a short while ago looking for DIY ideas lol.

Glad I found this place! Especially considering I have been hanging for around 5 years and still thought it was an alien idea to most. Nice to see the community has blown up over the last 5 years.

No, I haven't been in a cave :P I've been in the woods lol.

A quick search yields 8 organized AL hangs, but there have been even more.

    1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

Yeah, a tad bit before I got to this site. It's a shame too, I love Bankhead Natl. Forrest. This time of year it's a bit enclosed and stuffy though. To avoid hijacking this thread, I'm going to try and organize a hang, and posted in the Event section.

Its about time to start thinking about the next Sipsey hang. I just got back from the Ocoee this weekend and it got all the way down to 64 for a low with very little humidity. I am so ready for some cooler weather and hiking.

I hear on that Skippy. I'm ready as well. Heading to the Smokies this weekend for a couple nights.

Hopefully we'll have a Bama hang soon.

Wow, I go away for a couple of days, and I miss several replies.

Wirerat, I see you're in Guntersville...I'm in Albertville.

When I saw "On a Mountain somewhere in Alabama" I automatically assumed Sand Mountain

I'm just across the lake from where 431 goes up the mountain. Very close to Spring Creek boat ramp.

You wouldn't happen to know Kenny Underwood, Burt Ridge, or Gary Howard would you? They are all on Sand Mountain, active outdoorsman, paddlers, hikers etc.

I think Gary and Kenny should be finished with their Pinhoti section hike now. We were all once members of a fleeting Outdoors club called NEAAC. I'm thinking about getting it started back up and getting us some meeting dates and such to all get together.
