what do you guys do with your rucksack to keep it safe and dry?

hi, im getting a HH at the end of this month, anyone got any tips on keeping a 45 litre bag dry and out of sight?
I live in england so i'm rationally worried about rain and irrationally worried about people nicking my stuff if im at a festival or stealthing.

You could always put it under your knees/feet after the contents are emptied out at camp (assuming you bring the bare essentials and don't have an overloaded pack.

I frequently hang mine on the hammock's suspension at the foot end of my hammock.

I've heard of others bringing a small piece of plastic, which is placed under the hammock, then set the pack on top of that plastic to keep it dry. If you hang your hammock fairly low, along with your tarp, it should stay pretty dry unless a stream roams through your camp in the middle of the night.

This has been discussed MANY times before, but some of the common tips are to put the pack under the hammock on a ground sheet, to empty its contents and put it under your knees, to hang it from your hammock suspension covered with a pack cover, do the same from a tree, or to make a gear hammock like Just Jeff's pack cover/gear hammock or mini hammock and hang the pack inside the gear hammock, hidden and suspended under your hammock.

I bought a Jeff's pack cover/gear hammock from JRB's. Works great and a fantastic multi-tasker. Pack cover, gear hammock, catch or carry water, wash basin, etc...good price too!

I have carabiners at the cinched ends of my hammock, so I just hook it up there to keep it off the ground.

I have doors on my tarp and simply button everything up if I go to far from camp. Everything is out of sight and I also never worry about rain while I'm away.

Word of caution: I stored my pack on the ground under the hammock once and the next morning found a neat quarter-sized hole in one hip pouch where a mouse smelled snack residue and helped himself. I now hang the pack from the tree strap with a silnylon pack cover for weather protection. No critter problems since.

I add a second line under my tarp and clip my pack to it.
I like big hammocks - I cannot like.

Clipped the the structural ridgeline of my Traveler, at about knee level, hanging on the opposite side of the hammock from where I put my feet. That keeps it under the tarp, off the ground, dry, and within reach.
