First Slings and a Big Thanks to the Regulars

Wanted to say thanks to all that have freely given their knowledge to all of us newbies on the forum. I just finished my first 2 sets of whoopie slings today. Except for working with steel, I'm not much of a diy guy, but with instructions here and your YouTube videos I was able to get through them. Got a little fustrated with trying to bury my first eye, but with some experimentation, I was able to finally get. Ended up using one of my wife's small crochet hooks as my fid. Used the thick end and blue tape as the connection between the small end and the line to get it through the core. So again thanks

now to learn to use the sewing machine for my first diy hammock.

Congrats on the whoopie slings. Once you've made one they come easily. Good luck with the sewing. Start small and get some practice. Its not really that hard once you get the hang of it. Take your time and enjoy.

Way to go! It's very satisfying making your own gear. Watch out though now that the DIY bug has bitten. You will never be the same again! It becomes an obsession.

They do get easier each time. I just used the concept to build an ultralight "aider" for rock climbing. I like finding other uses for this skill and creation. Wait until you get the nacrabiner bug.
