well i got the nacra bug.the knott and loop idea is a good one and i see possible applications for it all over my hammock and tarp tarp.the ones i am showing here are mostly for tarp ridgeline,or tarp tie out lines, as i do not know their strength ratings.
most of these are for hollow core lines only but i have a few examples of ones tied on.
the first series of pics are some inline whoopie nacras how tos.i tied this in 7/64 amsteel so it would show better in the pics.
1. first tie a knot on the end of your line, this will be your stopper knot eventually.
2. using your wire or splicing tool begin making a bury,as you would for a normal whoopie.with the exeption that were your tool bites the line will be further from the end of the line.the knot will stay on the whoopie end.
[IMG][/IMG]
3. pull bury back through as normal.as soon as you pull about 1 inch of loop out of the bury stop.remove wire or fid
4. grab far end of cord and feed this through the loop on the bottom of your whoopie bury
[IMG][/IMG]
5.pull line all the way through
6.pull on knotted line or whoopie loop to tighten loop on other side of bury.this is done.you can loosen loop on bottom of burry to readjust loop,or knotted section lengths.
[IMG][/IMG]
this also may be a way to lock a loop without the locked brummel.to do this do not tie the stopper knot.start the tool making the bury.bite the line to be drawn thru 1.25 inches from end.pull line thru bury, stop when small loop comes out of bury, remove tool, feed end of line thru loop.pull on end loop to tighten loop should now be locked
here are some of the ways to make a lockable loop with them
use a larkshead to secure behind knot.easy,no lost loops or whipping.sometimes hard to undo
[IMG][/IMG]
teedees nice looking and easy functional scarab lock(hope i tyed it correct)
[IMG][/IMG]
whipping lock,easy lock unlock
[IMG][/IMG]
the standard nacra lock and i think most popular.easy to lock sometimes finnicky to unlock.can loose the loop if not carefull.i have a small fishing split ring on here so the loop cannot get lost.centering this knot on a regular nacra biner is a little hard.on this model you can adjust by loosining the loop on bottom of bury up and readjusting lengths.
[IMG][/IMG]
you could also leave the loop open on bottom of whoopie and lock the knot as follows
[IMG][/IMG]
pass knot thru loop
[IMG][/IMG]
pull on loop in bottom of whoopie bury to tighten
[IMG][/IMG]
here are some of my tarp lines
[IMG][/IMG]
open on top photo, closed on bottom photo
the first one is the original i made.it uses a slideable whipping to lock.
the secnd one is just tied,no splicetie a loop, leave some extra line at knot of loop.tie a stopper knot on the end of this extra line.use larkshead to tighten.
third one has a teedee locking scarab
last one has a slideing knot tied on the loop

hope you all enjoyed and find this usefull.i am happy to add any more explanation,or hear any constructive criticism,or related ideas
