just finished one with 3 layers of insultex. I put grosgrain around all 4 edges to help stabilize the differential cut and insultex. The weight is 25 oz so its no lightweight. I am undecided if I want to run shock cord through the long channels for the suspension or just use smaller sections at the corners like shown. I guess I'll order some more shock cord and try both ways.
Just finished mine. Ran the grosgrain on all 4 sides. Ran the shock cord through the long edge channels as suspension so I could adjust the location easier. Can't wait to give it a try. I'm pretty happy with it as it is my first thread injecting go around. Next stop, Insultex.

Thanks for sharing -- do you have some pics?

Nice instructions! I'll have to poke around the army surplus stores this weekend and see what I turn up.
No pics yet. I have a little tweaking to do with my suspension details and then I'll post. I made some amsteel triangel thingies with the nacrabiner opening on the end to catch the adjustment cord-locks. Fairly stoked about giving it a try but life keeps getting in the way.
My only issue with the PLUQ is that I can't find an poncho liner in my area for less than $35. For that price I can get enough down to DIY a fluffy UQ.
Its still a great prject and if I could get the poncho liners for even $25 I would be all over this.

Catavarie, there were some folks on eBay that had PLs at better prices than that, even with shipping. You might explore that possibility.
Ebay... you can get them all day for $16 shipped.
I looked on Ebay also and there is a BIG price difference in actual US GI liners and the so called GI like pancho liners (imported) does anyone know if there is a weight and insulation difference in them
