What a great idea! I just don't think I could do that to a woobie. They are one of the greatest things the army has issued me. I guess I could find one online somewhere.

dejoha, it looks like you sewed 3 pleats into each end, can you tell me how wide the golds were? Also, Would there be some benefit to sewing in a channel of grossgrain on the folded side to allow more 'forward/back' adjustment beneath the hammock?

    Thanks,

No real trick on the pleats. I think there is a good DIY article for making one from insulted that gets detailed on the pleats.

There is a no-sew option... I love my no-sew version as it keeps my woobie useful as a blanket. Mine was missing most of the tie-outs, so I sewed grosgrain loops on each corner and the mid-point.

Here's the No-Sew PLUQ. The only modification required is to melt a few holes in the edging to pass shock cord through...

Finished my Sew-'em-Up PLUQ last week and took it out for a test hang Monday night and it worked great. the PLUQ, along with a Coleman sleeping bag and a mid-weight set of thermals kept me toasty warm down to about 42.

I can definitely see making a couple more for my kids to use...

How bout a zipper there amigo?

One of the cool things about this is Vermont's Barre surplus store has Poncho liners in several camo patterns and not just woodland, I can build an entire setup, tarp, hammock, and PLUQ with ABU pattern fabrics, making a sweet setup with this pattern.

It's around $100 for the materials. I'M ON IT!
