Well, I finally had some time to go set-up my new HH Expedition Asym, and the Hex Fly. FORGOT to bring the Snakeskins! D'Oh! I did a hike-in renegade hang at a local reservoir that I like to fish .... found a spot with nice trees, and nice views in all directions. (PICS ATTACHED)
I first found that my gauge of tree distances was a little off. Finally set-up between two trees about 12 ft ( four good strides) apart, but will shoot for 15 ft next time. Purposely picked two trees on a mild slope, to prove that the hammock was better than a ground tent. It is WAAAY better!
I first hung it with the tarp attached to the hammock, per instructions. I could never get it taut, and did NOT like how claustrophobic it felt! I strung a separate ridgeline for the tarp, and tried attaching under it. Not so hot. Then I put the tarp OVER the separate ridgeline ...AAAAhhhhhh! THAT was the ticket! Tarp moved, but the hammock didn't in the wind.
LOVED getting in the hammock! Almost fell asleep trying it out! LOL!
I will try some other suspension methods later on, but as of right now THIS THING WORKS!
I took a bunch-o-pics with my cell phone .... managed to get them into my work email, then export to my home computer. Now to figure out how to resize them so I can put them up here.
PS: Using bright orange 1/8" tie-outs helped me from tripping all over myself while experimenting with this!
