How long have you been hanging?

I was just answering another thread and it got me to thinking about this. I started "Hanging" as my normal camping method in 2000, that seems like it isn't too long ago to me, but it's been more than a decade since I first started hammocking and writing about it. There were times like back in the 80's where I played with it, but nothing serious.

So how long have you been a regular "Hanger"?

Time sure flies when you're sleeping well.

For me it's been 5 or 6 years as best as I can remember without thinking too hard.

Only been a hanger for just a bit less than a year, been a camper all my life (parent's used to take me when I was a baby) but the hammock has been the best and most comfy I've been in the piney wood's! I wish I found this out a "LONG" time ago!!!!!!!

I don't know since I use a tent and hammock equally

I started cause of spine injury. Hammocking allowed me to at least get into the "WOODS" carcamping

2 days after I met you Rock.

Trail Days 2007, I had just bought my first hammock from Coffee (HammockEngineer at the time). My brother and I had a tent set-up and Coffee was hanging around talking to me about hammocks. You walked up (cigar in place) and introduced yourself. Found out I had just bought a hammock and asked where I had it set. I said I was sleeping in the tent and didn't have the gear to hang in cool temps. You shook your head, put the cigar back in the corner of your mouth, and walked away muttering something about leading a horse to water.

Got home the next day and set-up my new-to-me Hennessy and spent my first night outdoors in a hammock.
    Trust nobody!

Hanging "regular?" only a coupla years, but I did it Regular in '70 while on my "Expense paid S E Asian Vacation." Does that count? I was a convoy trucker out of Qui Nhon, and used a souvenir net style hammock strung between army trucks when on overnighters to Plei Ku and such. Beat sleeping on the seat of a army truck. I still have 2 of those hammocks, and use one now and then hung on the front porch to watch the world go by. Didn't really get back to it till finding out my folks threw out dad's ww2 army issue jungle hammock that we used when I was a kid. I went on an obsessive compulsive tear, gonna get a jungle hammock or die trying. Wound up with a Clark, and found H F.
