Darn it! not that I'm complaining, but I have yet to get a tick on me. The dog, yea. Fellow campers at Feather Falls, yes. And I've hiked all over in prime tick country. Sat right in the grass lots of times.
Poison oak is a whole 'nother story. I didn't get it on this trip, but I was also somewhere between watchful and paranoid.

Did I mention how fun you were? I liked how animated you were and listening to your stories ("ramblings" as you called them). It made for a much better hang. I'm in for July as long as it's after the 4th for obvious reasons. Hope all goes well with your auction.

The snow pack this year is really cramping our plans. Bearbait, whose name still sort of scares me by taunting the bear gods, and I are planning a Sierra trip next week in the 6,000 to 9,000 range. From my trip to tahoe last week, snow is definitely still present in that range.

Should make for an interesting trip report.

Like I said when planning our Coe trip, what could possibly go wrong? There's always Plan B, Kibbie Lake, which has been snow-free for a couple weeks.

I dubbed a former buddy Bearbait after he hiked in a bottle of cologne. Still makes me giggle to this day.

Relax, or I'll hide a Snickers in your hammock

Hey just saw your video - cool!! When I was a kid I used to spend the summers a couple of hours south of you, in Merced county heading up towards Yosemite. The skeeters were so thick. Ugh.

    Hey Californians,

I'm going to Whitney - on a side trip on a six day backpack from Onion Valley to New Army or Cottonwood Pass.

Any takers? I have one tent dweller so far who's going and a third free permit, and I'm sure we could get more. Starting August 26.
