The box made its first stop in Canada. Would be nice to see it come north again for another short trip. If it gets back to the East coast I have some new gear to add.

I got the box a couple of days ago.

Sorry I have not acted quicker, I have been bogged down with work and preparing for the holidays.

Should I split it up and send it out as 2 boxes or keep it as 1? What is the general consensus?

1or 2 either way, just point one my way!

Definitely split it 2,3,or 4 ways. I planned to do that and add a lot of stuff when it got to me, but now I think it's skipping people in line, just going to the most recent poster. I'm not sure, though. The forum is huge now, and several of these should be rolling around with different names. Might I suggest Larry, Moe, Curly, and possibly Shemp?

Yeah, know what you mean... it seems to have gotten off from the suggested plan in the original posts... I had my name in and got some stuff ready to contribute to the box, but it hasn't found my mailbox yet! Since it has gotten so popular, I think splitting it up would be good as it seems it now has gotten so big that it takes a semi to transport the box around!

Is it too late to join up?

In planning for a thru-hike I've got extra stuff after using my perogative many times.

This is not a new idea but I haven't seen it posted here on HF.

The idea, if you are not familiar with it, is simple. Take something out, put something in it, and send it to the next person.

I'd be willing to start a box with a few misc camping supplies, maybe a few things focused towards Hammock Hanging. I would suggest either keeping the list of participants down to maybe 50 people, or keeping this thread running; The last person to receive the box posts asking for the next address, then the first person to PM that person and post PM'd in the thread will be sent the box. The latter way is an attempt to keep dozens of folks PMing the last person.

If this sounds like something you'd like to see happen, lets hear from you.
MODDERATORS: If this is in the wrong area of HF or you have any objections, let me know. This is me just thinking out loud for the moment.

    Happy Trails.

This was the last "instructions" posted when it actually started

It's actually up to the holder to select the next reciever. I hope ya get a chance to add to it. Splittin it up would definately get it around to more people.

Thanks RF, this seems to be the only systematic way of tracking the travels. Makes it easy to determine where it should go.
