Soft Shackle Prusik pictoral.... picture heavy dial up beware

Thank you for the clear instruction on making a soft shackle. I just made my first and 5 more. I try ed varying the starting length 12-14-15 inch. With my old fingers I think the 14 inch works out well but am going to try the 12 inch starting length. I plan to use them with prusik on my tarp ridge line. Thank you again, By the way this is my first complete DIY project as well.

These are awesome! I tried using them on a CL, but didn't really like it. I made a shorter one with a fisherman's stopper knot that I use on my UCR ridge line so I can disengage it for lounging. Works awesome. I still plan on using them for my end only tie outs though, So I won't have any knots to ties, just put the shackle through the tarp tie out (my stake points are Lineloc 3s).

This kind of information is why I love this site!

I just followed these exact instructions from the op and then did 3 loops to prusik it to my tarp ridgeline. I was playing with both back and forth letting it slide then putting tension on it. Both of my buried ends, not the backsplice, came out. I was staring at it in awe. Both buries, like they were never even in there.

Anyone have any idea what I did wrong?

I do picture 8-10 differently.
Instead of grabbing the long piece and pulling it through the short one i pull the short one through the long one.

THEN i pulle short through the long, it kinda creates a lock so the bury doesn't slip...

Haven't field tested it yet but it seems to hold.
