They aren't EXTRA hammocks, and they all have a purpose. One basic reason: I wanted them.

I have 5 Diy's so far, and I just can't stop. I've ran out of friends to build them for. Each one has it's own personality. I love DIY!

Extra hammocks? No. Many hammocks? A few. And a few more.

I keep them so my family of 4 can go winter camping together in Colorado. We haven't done that yet, and probably never will, but I need to be prepared in case the wife agrees to it.

I also keep them for loaners. I've outfitted 3 other folks at Mt Rogers two years in a row. That's fun for me.

But no two of my hammocks are alike. The closest matches are a 1.7 oz Warbonnet El Dorado and a custom 1.1 oz olive drab El Dorado, and an HH BULA and HH Explorer. Then the WBBB, JRB BMBH, WarmHammock, DownHammock, 1.1 oz sil hammock...and a few others. But it's only an addiction if you admit it.

LOL... No, its an addiction whether you admit it or not!! Overcoming that addiction starts with admitting you have one, however.....

Ive got 6. I started with 1, bought a couple others and sold them.... and I think I have #7 on the way. (watch out Cannibal....)

Ive mainly got the ones I have now to toy with suspension system ideas. and Id use them more if I could get out more.... It is amazing in some realms the different comfort level you can get from a simple gathered end hammock. Then you step over to a bridge and its like going from an inner spring mattress to a water bed.....

    Who knew?

Now stoves ... err ... ahem ... can I plead the fifth on that one?

I guess I COULD use something a little different, I just know how comfy and useful the blackbird is and I really enjoy it. Maybe a bridge hammock wouldn't be a bad idea, but can I get one with an attached bug net? I really need some bug protection around here unless it's the dead of winter. If not another blackbird, then what?
oldgringo's reply to my worrying about owning extra hammocks:

How many pairs of underwear do you own? Do you refer to them as "extras", simply because you're not wearing all of them as we speak?
