    My tarp leaks!

Well to my dismay I discovered that my tarp is leaking. The water appears to seep through, form droplets, and then plonk me in the head. The area that leaks is quite large, and could be most of the tarp. (It is hard to tell the spots to do and don't leak without a rain-storm pounding it.)

    This is my tarp:
1.9 ounce polyurethane coated nylon ripstop
(as found on the HH site: http://hennessyhammock.com/specs-survivor_dig.html )
Actually my tarp is a little different. It is a large hex, not the small 'default' HH tarp. But it is made out of the same material.

Can it be saved? Can it be refinished? Or should I just start saving the pennies and get a spinn tarp?

(I do love this tarp, and I love the camo, and I bought a Grizz Beak for it!)
    I ride a recumbent.
I like to HAM it up on the CW.
    I use Linux.
    I play go.
Of course I sleep in a hammock!

How old is it? They may replace it as a defective item.

Is it leaking at seams, or in the middle of the fabric? If it's just the seams it's an easy fix, but that doesn't sound like what you're talking about.

Is it only in heavy rain? If so it might be misting threw the trap. A drawback of nylon tarps.

I see it is only coated and not impegnated like sil is. Might not be the most waterproof to start with. Only guess, have not used or seen it in person.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

I have seen pu coated nylon delaminate over time, but that is quite visible, like peeling after a sunburn.

It is not at the seams, it is throughout very large areas (or the whole thing) of the body. I do not see any peeling to indicate the PU was coming off, but I also did not look at it in full light. It is also not misting. There was a significant amount of water-droplets even during light-rain.

The tarp is less then 2 years old (whenever my join-date here was). I will contact HH and see what they have to say.

I don't see this as a disappoinment, I rather see it as an opportunity to buy some new gear!
