My first homemade Hammock

A piece of nylon, 2,3 oz/yard², 124x59 after stitching.
A deep and confortable through once I am in, but too difficult to enter or leave.
I will have to re-whip the sides and make them floppier.
Once I have slept in a couple of nights, I will report.

you might also try hanging it higher on the tree & allowing more sag
if that doesn't help, then re whipping w/ looser sides like you said should help.

It does look like you pulled the edges out quite a bit at the whippings. Just barely pull the edges at the whipping and it should relax the sides a lot. Also, how wide is that hammock? The wider the hammock, the less tight you would want the edges to be able to get more diagonal.

Yep - definitely more sag. It'll be more comfortable and easier to get in and out.

my wife did the same thing with her first hammock and she woke me up at 2:00 am to help get her up so that she could go pee I was laughing so hard that she made me try it out (in the morning) and there was no way that I could have ever gotten out on my own. We re-whipped it and the problem was solved. Thats a reason it is always good to test BEFORE you go out

Its 59" wide, I relaxed the sides all the way and its definitly better.
But the fabric itself sems to be quite unusable, because it stretches a lot.

I found it helped a lot to build in some sag using a ridgeline and that the stretch (in nominally no stretch fabric) made things a little more comfortable.

In my case I used 144" long fabric (about 142" hemmed) it was whipped about 2" in from each end and then hung from about an inch in from the whipping. the rings are on 4-6" lines from the hang point... so they're just outside the body of hammock... I use 11' between the rings for my ridgeline...
