New to the world of hanging

    Hi guys.
    My name is Phil.
I've been a tenter for too long, don't hold it against me. I have evolved and am know a proud hanger.
I've only had a hammock since the end of May. But I've been out at least one day every weekend since.

A little about my setup. Spurred on by Shug's video's I've made changes and streamlined my setup a little every time. Not so easy to get Amsteel or Dynema over here, but I'm working on it. Still using webbing for hammock suspension.
Using a DD Frontline Hammock. Finding it pretty comfortable, if a little strange. My back feels great but my sleep is a little broken and disturbed.
Got a couple of tarps 3m by 3m and a 4.5m by 3m. At the moment I'm flying the tarp via a ridge line, centered and tensioned with prusiks' on either side. Still using standard guylines. Got a Snugpak underquilt and overquilt.
So think I got the basics sorted.
Which is good because I'm off to Gränsfors Sweden for a month long hang. While there I will be learning to blacksmith and exploring the local area.

If anyone has any wisdom or ideas to make my hanging better please let me know.
It's great to be here and I hope I can contribute constructively

    Welcome Phil,

Sounds like you have the basics down, and you will learn a lot hanging for a month in Sweden. Have a great hang

Welcome to the forums. Part of the fun in hammock hanging is that there's always room for experimentation and improvement. Besides tinkering with your gear is just plain fun.

    Thanks for the welcome guys.

Yep I kinda got the idea about experimentation, upgrade, weight saving and general ingenuity.

    I love it!

There are some hangers in Sweeden maybe you can look them up.

If your sleep is broken, you might try another hammock. I'm not saying I know one will be better, but I have heard the DD are pretty small hammocks. Usually, the more fabric a hammock has, the more comfortable it lays. Like I said, I don't know if this is your problem, but I sleep through the night and wake up in the same position I fell asleep in when I hang in my Blackbird. YMMV
oldgringo's reply to my worrying about owning extra hammocks:

How many pairs of underwear do you own? Do you refer to them as "extras", simply because you're not wearing all of them as we speak?

Thanks Kukri. I'm not sure what is going on with the broken sleep. But you saying you woke up in the same position you went to sleep triggered a few things. I think I change position alot from fetal on my sides to flat on my back. Maybe I need to get used to sleeping in one position again. Hopefully I should have it worked out after my trip. One way or the other.
