    Has anybody used these?

I was wondering if anyone has used these? Pros and cons? They look like they are made out of steel or another heavy metal. I was thinking I could have the local machine shop make me a custom pair out of magnesium if they work well for use with 3/16" diameter spyderline. I would do it my self but to many dangers machining magnesium. The magnesium ones would be extremely light and also double as emergency fire tinder in a survival situation.

This also makes me think to make a extremely small pair to work on guylines for my tarp.hhhhhhmmmmm.....maybe one out of ferrocerium rod.lol

After further investigation apparently they already thought of this but they used alluminum instead. Magnesium is much stronger and lighter.

i'm not familiar w/ the some of the metal strengths, but that sounds like a good idea w/ the fire starter.

Would not use all the time but would have it there if needed in an emergency. i.e. survival situation. Dual purpose item.

I've thinking of making a pair of these myself, just haven't got around to it yet.
