One of my hammocks is a large quilted one on a backyard stand. I've mentioned before that my cocker spaniel sleeps in my Hennessy with me when I go camping.
Well, yesterday, I was out in the backyard, throwing a tennis ball around, when one throw happened to land in the hammock. Since it's above her eye level, she didn't know where the ball had gone, and I ended up walking over there and showing that it was in the hammock. She then put her feet up on the edge, so the ball would roll down to her.
A few minutes later, I threw the ball in the hammock again, and she only sniffed around the stand for a minute or so before standing up to roll the ball off the hammock.
Of course, a dog doesn't fully learn a trick with only one lesson, so today, when I tossed the ball into the hammock, she just kept running around the yard, confused.
Until, on one pass by me, I asked her, "Is it in the hammock?"
She then ran right to the hammock, sniffed the ground for a couple seconds, then stood up and rolled the ball out.
That's right -- my dog knows what a "hammock" is
