Noob hammock for a "big" man?

Maybe my search-foo sucks but what would you folks suggest for a noob in the 305ish lbs range to start with? (other than a diet)

Store bought? DIY? (would have to be easy)

If premade, who and what model? Also, not looking to break the bank either since this is a trial.

i would look at a Warbonnet hammock....he makes a DBL Layer 1.7 that will hold 375lbs.... http://warbonnetoutdoors.com/index.php
also the ENO DBL Nest will hold 400lbs ...

but i would go with the WB hammock...that just me

there traveler hammock is only $75 .....

the ENO DBL nest is around that price as well.....there are a few others out there that can handle 300lbs but not alot.....

look at it this way if you get a Warbonnet traveler ...and don't like it ...you could sell it in the For Sale thread....they sell fast

Stormstaff, as a fellow 'noob' I also didn't want to spend a ton of money right off the bat. I ordered 4 yards of 1.7oz ripstop and made my own gathered end hammock. (there are some very awesome videos around here on how to make them) I believe the one layer of material would be fine for a man of your stature, but you could always double it up for strength or buy a heavier material like a cordura (overkill?). It only requires the ripstop material and some sort of rope (to whip the ends and hang with). I was hanging within 1 hour of getting all my materials and it cost me >$20....not too shabby. I have since become addicted and I am now learning to ....uhh...ahemmm...sew and make my own kick-*** gear!! (I'm very excited!!) This forum has a wealth of info for noobs like us who want to hang on the cheap! Best of luck!!

I agree with greenlespaul ..... Warbonnet BlackBird or Traveler. Strong, USA made and made by a member on here. Easy to re-sell. Comfy. The integrated bug-net on the BlackBird is awesome .... yeah, awesome.
Why spend $$ on a bunch of budget hammocks.
I bet you will be happy.

Another nod here for the WarBonnet Double 1.7 if you are looking for a ready made hammock. A DIY hammock is also a good starting point. A search through the DIY sections here. Will show you some mighty fine hammocks made by the members here. There also some good tutorials that will help you if you decide to go the DIY route.

I think a Warbonnet Blackbird dbl 1.7 would be the ticket! AND, if for some reason you don't like it, you can either return it (subject to Brandon's return policy) or sell it here on HF. A used WBBB usually sells in well under an hour after posting.

Warbonnet, Trek Light, or ENO would all be good hammocks for you IMO.
