Lake Calderwell---when it's too hot to hike.

We overnighted on SlickRock Creek this past weekend and enjoyed a small taste of the Citico. At the put-in it was between 96 and 97F-way to hot to hike. Lake Calderwell hovers around 48F year around...this water temperature can be deadly to some so if you plan to swim there wait until you get to SlickRock Creek where it is much warmer but still cold enough to take your breath away.
Cakes used a new Blackbird single in her quest to learn more about hammocking. The last time she was in a HH Backpacker A-sym. We'll have to see which she preferred.

Hands down I liked the WB best. Lots of room inside and the side shelf was very handy. But the side zip entry I think is the best feature. I loved being able to lay there and prop my feet up on the rock the hammock was set up alongside and enjoy the view. Sweet! It was like being in a swinging recliner. And hey MedicineMan I still slept better than in a tent!

That sure looked nice, Medicineman. It's nice having air conditioning from the lake. That's where I need to hike from now on. It looks very secluded. Did you see anyone else? I love that solitude!

We did see a small family and camper near the put-in, stopped to ask the familiarities. The man told us where to park and vehemently where not to park. The next day we saw him and 2 kids in a little john boat headed up Slick Rock Creek so the kids could play in the pools and slides. When talking I asked the man if he was the campground host, he said he was the major and that he'd look after my car while there. Seemed like a good guy. The last day saw 3 in a canoe headed up the creek.
