Newbie question on aligning fly with hammock

Is the fly supposed to match the hammock exactly? Because I cant seem to get the side corners of the hammock to align perfectly with the hammock corners...they are slightly off to the side by 6-12 inches. Is this designed that way?

Check to see if it's upside-down. That's what happened to me until I figured that one out.

I think we have all made that little mistake when setting up a HH. Just par for the course.

i used to have the same problem w/ a small ...gulp... tent when i set it up.
the tent had a slightly off set shape & it's nylon foot print was a trick to tell which way was right.
so i wrote "front right top" or some thing like that along one edge.
I too will something make and joy in it's making
