A suggestion was made a couple of weeks ago to have a group hang at Devils Fork State Park on Lake Jocassee in the NW corner of South Carolina.
I checked with the ranger and he said it would not be a problem to hang in the tent camping section. The only stipulation is that you have to hang on the site that you reserve, not necesarily over the tent pad, but you can't just go hanging in the woods anywhere. The rule for tents is max of two per site and they must be on the 12 x 12 tent pad. I would expect the same limit for hammocks.
The cost is $16 per night per site.
I checked the camping reservation site.

Questions for canoe and kayakers-
Can it be too cold for you guys?
How cold is too cold?
How deep into the season would you be interested in something like this?
Just wanted to float this out to check for interest. If we want to do something in the fall, we'll need to pull the trigger pretty quick or the sites will get booked.
