    Another under quilt question

I'm redoing my underquilt. On my fist try I did 2 1/2 in baffles with 7 in spacing.
The quit seemd like it was loose with a lot of space. I used it down to 25* or so and it did OK. but I had some cold spots. I'm Trying to keep it closed to the hammock without compressing the down. I was wanting to redo the quilt with 1 1/2 in. baffles and 5 in. spaing. I'm still going to use 800 fill down. I hope this will help reduce cold spots. Is there any reason that this will not work?

Did you overstuff the down? I was thinking back to mine. I just guessed at the baffle spacing. Think it is 6 or 7. One I made close to 10 or 11. With the proportionally the same down the bigger chamber seems to fluff more. I know down moves in bigger spaces, but it seemed interesting.

TeeDee did a write up on a box quilt on here that looks interesting.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

Are you sure it wasn't something else causing the cold spots? i.e.--was it snugged up to your hammock really well... was the down compressed at all anywhere... any gaps where a draft might come in?

The thought of undoing a whole down quilt and redoing the baffles gives me the shivers!!

The down was ok I think there was just to much space between the quilt and the hammock. I hade done the part that tuches the hammock first and I'm putting enough suspenion so that it is snug befor doing anything else. I was just wanting to know if the baffel size mattered.
