Finally got a forecast of no rain & lower temps with a cold front passing through, and I didn't have any work scheduled for this morning (self-employed). So my 10 year old son and I grabbed our packs and hung out in the woods last night.
That's a big advantage I hind in hammock camping vs tent camping for us. Each can carry his own shelter/sleeping gear and I can carry the food for both of us. It takes very little time to set up camp when we get there, so a late start is no problem. We keep the packs loaded and ready to go, so when opportunity knocks - we answer!
It was nice last night! Temps dropped to about 60°F and I actually had to grab my fleece pullover about 3:00AM - sure was nice to feel a bit cold for a change!
