best guyline setup???

I have some extra Zing-It. I know it's overkill, but the feel of it (new) makes me think it might be a good "no tangle" style of cord. Any thoughts?

Sorry I missed it before...

I wouldnt classify the samson utility lines as no tangle. Especially once the line gets broken in. I mean, it does OK... easy to untangle if you dont pull any unintended knots tight... But its so small if you do pull an unintended knot tight, youll need a needle, pick, awl to get it undone. Either that or small fingers.

I figure 8 wrap all my loose lines before stowage.

instead of tying several loops in one like could I just tie one loop with a prusik knot? that way I could slide the loop where ever I want?

That's what I do. I like it because I don't have to tie a knot every time I set up, and if you have a lot of guy lines, it becomes a chore. It's also nice so you can adjust the tarp in the hammock if it was raining.

I put a fixed eye at the stake end. A slippery half hitch in the running end, positioned next to the prusik, can serve as a stopper if necessary.

This looks overly complicated.... Why use two pieces and a pursic knot when just a one piece STL will do?

Gosh, I thought it was pretty simple.

There's only one line there (the pink one), and the loop for the prusik is already part of the tensioner. All I'm doing is substituting a prusik in that loop for the becket hitch I would normally use to join the line to the tensioner. I like keeping the line and tensioner as separate, independently replaceable components. Call it a personal quirk.

P.S. The effort in making the prusik is amortized over all the later deployments. No need to take it apart every time. In effect, you're making a one-piece STL that's also adjustable from under the tarp. If that's what one wants.

This is what I like best in a tarp line - adjustable from under the tarp, rather than out in the rain. Lots of ways to do it, I like your solution.
