Rain all weekend here - probably won't see a single star.

Is there a particular direction in the sky to look for this?

Sure is, look right at Perseus and they radiate from there.
If Perseus isn’t familiar, below the W of Cassiopia or left of the handle of the big dipper or or

In the east, at least in years past. Clouds forecast here. Bummer. Super new moon, partial eclipse, and Perseids, all obscured.

Thick forest fire haze from the fires in the coastal states, viewing opportunities don't look promising.

I was packed up and almost out the door to go to Newport State Park in Wisconsin, a zero artificial light park. Then got a call that my girlfriend father passed away this morning so I had to cancel. The strange thing is her mother passed away almost exactly 1 year ago when I was going to the same state park for the meteor showers. My girl told me to go but there was no way I could just abandon her when she's really torn up.

Dude, that sucks. Settworthy said he was up there with a group. I just figured you were part of that group. Have him tell you about heading up there in November to hang.
