    For the last 8 months

I've either done a hike a paddle or both each month thanks to being off every other week....My next off week I'm thinking of something completely different, something cultural. I'm thinking of visiting the Georgia Guide Stones.
Anyone been there? Thoughts on my cultural aggrandizement by visiting them?

you're talking about the stones with the message to the people who replace us when we finally manage to kill ourselves off?

A little morbid, but meh. If you don't buy into the conspiracy theories surrounding them, it can't hurt.

Looked them up on Wilkipedia. No need to go now. Go see some real art. Take in one of Shug's performances.

I know and appreciate Shug's brilliance--he's def. a gift from above that we lucky hangers are privy to.
On the guidestones it's just a whim. Caught wind about them when reading up on the gulf oil spill...its not that far away and will be a day trip if I go. Still amazed that 'someone' would spend that kind of money and I'll always wonder the real why.

Well, since the stones are supposed to be 18' apart I guess you could hang from them, but it doesn't look like it would a be a comfortable hang. The sponsors might also have a problem with you setting up your camp there.

    Sorry. Couldn't resist.

It's worth a visit if you just want to say you've been there, but I admit that I'd much rather go somewhere like Cloudland Canyon for the beauty of the area. If you want to visit real "ruins", maybe Kolomoki Mounds instead of the Guide Stones. Personally, I like visiting civil war battlefields.

It looks worth dropping by and seeing. I would have something else planned as a backup. You have to consider I have a pretty short attention span. I'm sorry what were we talking about?
