I have people out on vacation that week.

Sounds like a great trip. Look forward to a report and pics.

I'm sorry you won't be able to make it, Peg-leg, hopefully the next hang perhaps.

#38 has been closed several times this year due to aggressive bears. Just an FYI.

What???!!! Wisenber, how did you hear about this? I heard there was a resident bear(singular) nearby, but not bears(plural), and nothing about them being aggressive.
I certainly don't want to be a "bear burrito" or anyone else.

There were signs up lat time I hiked Big Creek to Sterling a couple of weeks ago. I think Just Jeff noted the same finding in his trip report. It's no big deal really. It could have just been a seasonal thing. Just call the park as you get closer or visit the website. (The phone call has automated info pertaining to bear issues that is pretty up to date.)

Good to keep up with that kind of info. Thank you. Good thing Hickery will be with us and his trusty "companion". (Saw it in Shug's trip video from the last Gorge trip.)
I ALWAYS carry bear spray whenever I go into the woods. I tested it when I first got it, and it wafted back on me. Trust me, it would do the job if need be!!

link to trail closures and warnings page. Scroll down to see sites where bears are active and where some campsites are closed

Thanks Ewker! I'll keep a close eye on this, although, it doesn't affect my going though. I guess in a perverted kind of way, I want to see some wildlife!
