    beginnings of HF.net

Thought this might interesting to some to see how this site got started; the first post lists what was available at the time with regard to getting info on camping in a hammock and suggests that there be a webpage to consolidate the links, but scroll down to post #10 to see how HammockForums.net got its start... (FYI - ATTroll is our overlord, LOL)

That's some good nostalgia right there.

And many of the posters are well known ( or should be ) to many of us who have followed their posts on hammocking.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

That is so weird!! Just 30 minutes ago I got on here to read the first few posts on HF. Just killing time

dakotaross starting "Let's get this party started!" in 2006. Wow!

195 members in Jan 2007. Kinda miss the small "hidden" world of hammocks even though I wasn't around that far back. Up to 50,391 today Too big to fail.

Wow, indeed! More great nostalgia!! You know, I ended up buying a Wallcreeper, still have it. Its heavy, but really warm. Use it for true winter camping.

Aye, I miss the covert world but the double edged sword. Without the growth we'd all still be hot gluing reflextic or windshield sun blocks to closed cell foam to keep our butts warm. Man that sucked.

    Thanks for the reminder!
Those posters were the "Who's Who" of hammocking in those days, and they are still hanging today!

I always love looking back at the history of this place. Thx for sharing.

I think of that first group of members as the aught sixers. As in 2006ers. Must have been fun back then. Still is today but I bet you felt like you knew just about everybody on the forum.
