I found that canoe tripping with the hammock adds an interesting twist on campsite selection. It was fun to paddle around saying to myself, "oh that would be a cool spot". The bush is so dense in most places that finding a "hang" with nice clear ground underneath and easy access to the water was more challenging than I anticipated.
Most of the trees in that area are pines with branches almost to the ground. It's hard to resist the urge to trim a few branches to keep them off the hammock/tarp. I used a rope to tie a few branches back out of the way, and this worked well.
I ordered a Speer SPE that didn't arrive in time for the trip, but was of course waiting for me when I got home.
