I believe 2 choices there to go ahead:

    1. Hang other end on rope from mast top and add. a rope to front of boat for pulling hammock forward from mast, or place a distance, PVC tube or aluminium overhead to make the distance from mast...

    2. Attach to fencing and place some material to keep distance up from the bridge to required height...

Solution 2 is more what i am looking for as could be easy enough to setup and require little material. Solution 1 could be easy depending on boat equipment and size

"fence pole" and "fencing" are unusual terms in reference to equipment on a boat. Your use of the term "bridge" appears to mean "deck" but I am not certain. We really need a picture of your little vessel!

A spinnaker pole over 10 feet long, rigged in the same manner as with the spinnaker, could support a hammock.

Why not hang between the mast and the forestay? A 'biner or shackle around the forestay, lifted by a halyard, will do the job well.

Interesting thread!! When we sailed with our friend, Ed, I'd hang my hammock between the mast and the "Gennie". It was a 36' C&C and the hang was perfect. I was the most comfortable sleeper on the boat.

We bought an old Newport 28' a year ago and the distance between the mast and the foresail is much shorter. I've been sleeping in the "V-Berth" on an air mattress. I am still trying to solve the "how to get more distance between to hang the hammock".
