    Light weight tent stakes

When going over my gear I always look at my heavy steal tarp stakes, I've tried to make them lighter buy cutting them down from the original 10" to 7" but they are still pretty heavy when you think about it. I would like to use something lighter but worry about the strength of the lighter ones. The thought that comes to mind is those cheap tent stakes that come with the bargain tents and end up looking like a pretzel after you first use them trying to get them in the ground.

What have your experiences been with light weight tarp/tent stakes? Is the strength there? Which ones might be a good upgrade? Which ones do you know are junk?

I use these stakes. They seem to be popular around here.http://www.campmor.com/webapp/wcs/st...0226&langId=-1

I decided make the investment in titanium http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-...es/index.html?. As long as you don't lose them, they'll come in quite handy. YMMV.

I have those latter stakes, if you really pound 'em in, you need a tool to remove them, there is nothing to grab onto. I like aluminum gutter nails as well as anything I've tried.

Just tie a little piece of cord around the top for easy removal.

These are what I use. Their shape really helps them hold in wet or soft ground.

Been surfing all over since I posted this. I can't make up my mind. I'm looking at the MSR Needle Stake, the Vargo Crevice Stake, and the Vargo Nail Peg, any insight on these?

There was another thread about this here that might give you some info.

FWIW, I really like using these with my tarp.
