In that case i would show him my post linked above and see if there are any double studs near the window like i have. See what he thinks about that idea.

He might be able to do it with a spreader bar. Maybe some 1" square hollow aluminum?
thanks for the responses and as stated above... will the attachment points be to high and close together? i could deffinetly hang there but i think in order for the hammock to be comfy it will have be very high up.is there a way around this?
If everyones having issues with attaching to the walls, I'd suggest building a hammock stand. Custom fit it to your room dimension, wall to wall, and hang from that.
Ambulo tua ambulo.
the problem with a stand is that my parents arnt so keen on the idea to start with but they agreed since all that would be showing is to little eye hooks. a stand would deffinetly not work well with my parents. i looked today and the ceiling where i would hang from dips down to about 7 feet so i feel like i could hang from an ENO double with a nice sag and not be to high at all.
This is doable...your contractor isn't trying very hard. Chat him up...become his buddy, and get him in your camp. Money always helps, but you prolly are a little short.

my contractor is actually pretty cool. when i mentioned the walls he was instantly shaking his head. he is going to take apart part of my ceiling however and look for some good rafters. this house was built during the great depression so this could have something to do with his nervousness
